Three part workshop for just $225
A three part workshop designed to introduce you to Milky Way/ Night landscape photography and expose you to more advanced techniques used to capture beautiful photographs of the night sky. This class is designed for both beginner and intermediate photographers who are looking to improve their night time images. All three portions will be taught by Brian. The participants will get more out of the workshop and get much better images if they can manually control basic settings on their cameras (which will be covered in initial zoom class). Please reach out to Brian if you have any questions about gear, techniques or skill level.

Section one is a live 60 minute zoom class on Sunday August 25th 2024 from 4:00pm-5:00pm which will cover the important equipment and camera settings that every photographer should know when trying to photograph at night. This class will be recorded to allow participants to watch or re-watch it at their leisure.

Section two is in person field course on Saturday August 31st 2024 from 7:45pm-10:15pm. We will be in Parkdale Oregon at one of my favorite locations with a nice dark sky and a great view of the milky way rising behind Mt Hood. Brian will be by your side to answer questions and assist you in capturing the beauty of the night sky. The field class is limited to 6 participants.

More advanced users will be introduced to other software and techniques which helps to create star stacks, star trails and time blends of the night sky. This class will be recorded to allow participants to watch or re-watch it at their leisure.

Cancellation- Participants who cancel before July 1st will get a 75% refund if we are able to fill your space. Cancellations made after that time are not eligible for a refund. Brian reserves the right to cancel the workshop due to illness, safety concerns, or if there are 3 or fewer participants and you will receive a full refund. If the weather on the day of the field class is such that photographing the sky is impossible, Brian reserves the right to to reschedule the field portion of the class. If you are unable to make the rescheduled time you will receive a 50% refund or credit but will still have full access to the online portions. Brian will be monitoring weather closely and do his best to decide if the conditions are acceptable or not. Of course, it is possible shooting conditions can change at any time. You should be aware class will proceed even if conditions are not perfect, for example, some clouds on the mountain or some haze/smoke but visible stars.

Difficulty- The shooting location is right next to where we park our cars so should be accessible to everyone. There is weak cell service and no facilities at the shooting location.

Lodging- The nearest hotels are in Hood River which is a 30 minute drive away. July and August is peak season in Hood River, so rooms will be limited and expensive. I recommend the Hampton Inn in Hood River and a discount is available that I will share with you once you register. There are some Air B&B's in the Parkdale area and several campgrounds nearby with the closest being Toll Bridge (does not take reservations)
